Matt Rhule began his second season at Nebraska on the right foot, guiding the Huskers to a blowout win over UTEP. Now, the full attention turns to a massive visit from Colorado and head coach Deion Sanders.

A season ago, it was a showdown in Boulder full of drama and claims of disrespect in the aftermath with the Buffs running away in the second half. Now, the Huskers get their shot at payback in Lincoln, and Rhule believes it will be a fun one under the lights.

Speaking at his Monday press conference, Rhule said he expects Memorial Stadium will “be rocking” all game long. He also urged the fans to create the homefield advantage but with a twist.

“I think it’ll be a great atmosphere. It should be loud and it should be a home-field advantage,” said Rhule while also urging fans to be “Nebraska nice” when Colorado comes to town.

We’ll see if fans agree with that final part of Rhule’s request, but there’s no doubt the environment should be elite.

As for motivation leading up to the game, Rhule made it clear this week is all about Nebraska focusing on getting itself ready to play. He is not intending on changing the way he talks to avoid saying Colorado or avoid wearing black all week.

“I’m worried about my team,” said Rhule.

While Nebraska leads the all-time series between the former Big 12 programs, Colorado has won 3 straight against the Cornhuskers. The last win by Nebraska in the series came all the way back in 2010.
