Matt Rhule claps back at Paul Finebaum’s Big Ten take after Ohio State wins CFP
Matt Rhule couldn’t resist.
One day after Ohio State beat Notre Dame in the national title game to earn the Big Ten its second straight national championship, the Nebraska head coach tweeted out a video that poked some fun at SEC Network analyst Paul Finebaum.
Finebaum, long known for his allegiance to the SEC, was forced to admit on ESPN’s Get Up on Tuesday morning that the Big Ten owns college football right now following 2 straight national titles. Even show host Mike Greenberg was taken aback by Finebaum’s bold admission, wearing a shocked grin on his face as Finebaum was forced to admit that his beloved SEC is playing second fiddle right now to that conference up north.
And in response to Finebaum’s admission, Rhule took to social media on Tuesday night, tweeting out a 45-second video that showed Finebaum criticizing Rhule for saying that the Big Ten should get 4 teams in the College Football Playoff every year and that the league is the “NFL of college football” right now.
Basically, Finebaum was saying to Rhule to win enough games at Nebraska to get into a bowl game before you start commenting on the Big Ten’s Playoff situation, but Rhule countered in the video by showing Finebaum admitting on national TV that the Big Ten is the best conference right now.
What an amazing 2024 college football season. Congratulations to @OhioStateFB and @ryandaytime . Looking forward to another exciting year of football in 2025 with everyone who makes this game so special like my friend @finebaum pic.twitter.com/SQEDQ3rW7F

Rhule was just having fun at the expense of the guy who wasn’t having much fun the morning after another team from the Big Ten won a national championship.
