Matt Rhule left no doubt about Nebraska’s quarterback situation heading into the Week 13 game against Iowa. After showing some string signs against Wisconsin, Chubba Purdy will indeed start for the Huskers in the Heroes Game.

Rhule also admitted at his Wednesday press conference that Heinrich Haarberg is not healthy. The head coach said Haarberg will be “an emergency guy” for now, but the team is confident in Purdy after his outing against the Badgers.

“I think coming out of the last game, Heinrich’s not healthy. He’s an emergency guy. I thought Chubba played really well on Saturday. I thought he practiced really well this week, so there’s really not much debate in our minds,” said Rhule. “I felt like it would be better to say it in case there is any doubt. Since Chubba went in during the last drive of the Maryland game… and drove us 90 some yards, he does nothing but play good football so I think he gives us the best chance.”

In the loss to Wisconsin, Purdy delivered a pair of early touchdowns and made plays with his legs and his arm. Late in the game, he helped engineer a drive to secure a game-tying field goal and force overtime.
