Matt Rhule would love to be in Memorial Stadium Wednesday night to cheer on Nebraska volleyball. However, Rhule and the Huskers football team are on the road preparing for their season opener against Minnesota.

Instead, Rhule delivered a video message to the volleyball program ahead of Volleyball Day in Nebraska. The new head coach wished success for the volleyball program and urged the team to keep making the Huskers proud.

“Just want to wish our Husker women all the success on this triumphant, historic occasion. I’m dying to run through these gates here soon and run out onto this football field. But more than anything, I’d love to be tonight,” said Rhule. “Good luck to you guys, we’ll be in Minnesota watching and cheering for you, and the Rhule girls will be here, and you’ll continue to make us all proud.”

Wednesday’s volleyball matches in Memorial Stadium include an exhibition game to begin the evening. The Huskers will take the court in primetime with a matchup against Omaha in store.

We’ll see what the final attendance numbers look like when everything is sorted out, but the Huskers should set a volleyball attendance record that is unlikely to ever be matched.
