Matt Rhule’s Nebraska Cornhuskers put up a valiant effort in Week 9 against the Ohio State Buckeyes. Ultimately, the Buckeyes escaped with a 21-17 win, however, and the Huskers have to wait at least 1 more week to secure bowl eligibility.

However, many watching and playing in the game felt that Ohio State got the benefit of several questionable calls from the officials. On Monday, the Big Ten issued a statement acknowledging a blown call that happened near the end of the 1st half.  Rhule also spoke on the officiating Monday.

“I don’t want any more apologies on Sunday,” said Rhule. “It can’t happen against UCLA. It can’t happen against Iowa. These things can’t happen moving forward.”

Rhule, of course, is referencing the statement from the Big Ten. While the coach admitted he appreciates the transparency, it would be better if the statements never had to be issued in the first place.

“I appreciate everybody, but it can’t keep happening to us,” said the coach. “It needs to be fixed. Tell us what the rules are and we’ll go from there.”

Being on the wrong end of questionable calls is especially infuriating when you lose a close game like the Huskers did. Still, the Huskers are sitting at 5-3 overall and can secure bowl eligibility with a win over UCLA in Week 10.
