Matt Rhule has been officially announced as the next Nebraska head coach and in his first press announcement, he addressed the great history of Nebraska’s program. Despite the lack of success, Cornhusker fans have been extremely loyal and continue to support the program in a big way.

“I should have known what I would see, this is why we’re here. We’re because of you guys,” Rhule said while pointing out the gathering of fans among the press. “We’re here because of a tremendous tradition but also because of a great, great future.”

“I can promise you this: As soon as this is done, I’ll start — we might have started last night — building the best football team, the team that you guys deserve,” Rhule continued on while describing his vision for the program. “And a team that every time you come watch us play, you’re gonna love the way that we play.”

Nebraska struggled at the beginning of the season and eventually would let go of former head coach Scott Frost. Rhule has a strong coaching resume in college with his time at Baylor being successful and is a welcome change for Nebraska moving forward.
