Matt Rhule and Nebraska took a humbling loss on Saturday as Michigan steamrolled past the Huskers in Memorial Stadium. Now, Rhule must regroup and get the team ready to play on Friday night without a few key pieces.

At his Monday press conference, Rhule confirmed defensive back DeShon Singleton and linebacker Luke Reimer will be out for Week 6. Singleton sustained a knee injury against Michigan that will keep him sidelined a bit moving forward.

“Singleton hurt his knee, he’ll be out an extended period of time,” Rhule announced. “Expect him back at some point, I don’t know when that will be so DeShon will be out on Friday.”

As for Reimer, Rhule said the LB is out of the hospital after a trip there Saturday morning. He confirmed the current issue is non-football related despite taking an injury in Week 4 but Reimer will miss Week 6.

“Reimer, out of the hospital, kind of back and forth a little bit there,” said Rhule. “So Luke won’t play this Friday but hopefully we’ll have Luke healthy and back with us soon.”

That is certainly a blow for Nebraska’s defense as the team looks to regroup from its worst performance of the season. Hopefully, some other players will be able to step up with an impact against Illinois.
