Matt Rhule updates QB room, shares early outlook for Week 12 vs. Wisconsin
Matt Rhule is once again juggling some potential changes for Nebraska as the team comes out of the weekend and heads toward a Week 12 matchup vs. Wisconsin.
This time, Rhule and the Huskers are dealing with an unclear quarterback picture after the results of Week 11. The trio of Heinrich Haarberg, Jeff Sims and Chubba Purdy all played in the loss to Maryland and accounted for 5 total turnovers in the loss.
Unfortunately, Rhule revealed Haarberg sustained a sprained ankle in the game and Purdy is a bit banged up as well. Sims is currently healthy per the head coach.
“Just to get started QB-wise, Heinrich has a pretty good ankle sprain. We’ll see if he can do anything tomorrow,” said Rhule. “Chubba came out of the game a little banged up. He hasn’t played much so he’s a little bit banged up from getting hit. Jeff is healthy.”
As for Week 12, Rhule said the team will prepare a diverse plan with each QB bringing something different to the table. It is likely to be a game-time decision as to which player takes the first snap on Saturday.
“We’ll go through the week and probably come all the way up to game time in terms of who will play,” Rhule projected. “Obviously, each guy brings a little bit of something different to the table, so we’ll have sort of a pretty diverse plan and see who’s able to go. But, I won’t be able to comment on Heinrich until after I see him tomorrow if he can do anything at all.”
