Mickey Joseph made the decision to move Tommi Hill from DB to WR this season. Nebraska had a bye in Week 8 which has gave Hill time to focus on getting better at his new position.

As a DB, Hill has 10 solo tackles, 7 assisted tackles, and 4 pass deflections through the seven games that he’s played in. Joseph talked about how the bye week was a chance for Hill to get better at WR (via 247Sports):

“It helped him out a lot because he hadn’t played wide receiver since high school. He’s playing an X position that — let’s not say it’s simple — it’s simple when you play receiver, but it’s a little more complicated for him, but he had a better week this week.”

Hill actually played some receiver in high school. He was listed as a 4-star ATH from the 2021 class per the 247Sports Composite. Hill originally committed to Arizona State, but transferred to Nebraska after one season with the team.

Nebraska fans will be hoping that he can excel at this familiar position. Nebraska faces No. 17 Illinois Saturday at 3:30 p.m. ET on ABC.
