Mickey Joseph praises Isaac Gifford for stepping into nickel role with Huskers defense
Mickey Joseph recently had high praise for one of his defensive backs. Luke Mullin of the Lincoln Journal Star pointed out that Joseph has been especially impressed with Isaac Gifford.
Gifford has stepped into the nickel role after primarily playing safety. Gifford has answered the call, and is 4th on the team in tackles with 52. Gifford also has 2 passes defended, 4 tackles for loss, and 1 sack.
He understands the scheme and plays fast because he understands where the ball is going before it’s snapped,” Nebraska interim head coach Mickey Joseph said in October. “He’s got a lot of heart. He’s going to tackle you and cover you but he’s going to play his heart out. He plays hard every snap and he’s a smart football player.
Since taking over as HC, Joseph is 2-4 with the Huskers. The team will travel to Ann Arbor in Week 11 to take on Michigan.
