Mickey Joseph and Nebraska had a rough performance in Week 11 against Michigan. However, Joseph hinted that the Huskers might get some good news on the QB front for Week 12.
During Tuesday’s press conference, Joseph addressed the injury to Casey Thompson. The starter for Nebraska has missed the last two games but Joseph said Thompson has returned to practice.
While he’s back on the practice field, Joseph is still noncommittal on if Thompson can play against Wisconsin. If Thompson is unable to play, Joseph tabbed Logan Smothers as the would-be starter.
As for Chubby Purdy, Thompson announced he will be out with a high ankle sprain. Purdy is also set to undergo surgery for the injury this week.
The plan for the No. 2 spot if Thompson is unable to go in Week 12 would fall to redshirt freshman Jarrett Synek.
Nebraska interim coach Mickey Joseph says Casey Thompson is back at practice. “We don’t know at what volume.” Sounds like a chance he’ll be OK to play against Wisconsin.

Jarrett Synek is the No. 2 QB behind Logan Smothers if Thompson is unable to play. Synek is a redshirt freshman walk-on from Hastings, Neb. Mickey Joseph likes his athleticism.
