One of the newest Cornhuskers received a stamp of approval from one of their leaders Monday.

Dedrick Mills is a running back who last saw FBS action with Georgia Tech in 2016. He rushed for 771 yards and 12 TDs as a freshman but departed amidst issues with marijuana one year later.

Now, Mills is with Nebraska and looking to carve out some playing time in the backfield. As he continues to prep with the team, senior linebacker and captain Mohamed Barry admitted he is impressed with Mills’ style so far.

According to Brian Christopherson with Husker 247, Barry definitely sees a back that is not looking to go around defenders:

“He is a one-cut back, straight in your face. He’s trying to run you over,” Barry said. “He’s not trying to figure out a way to go around you. He’s trying to go through you, and that’s what he wants to do.”

Hopefully, that style earns him some solid playing time out of the gate. Nebraska’s season opener is set for Saturday against South Alabama. Kickoff is set for 12 pm EST on ESPN.
