Nebraska’s spring game will allow for at least 50 percent capacity, athletic director Bill Moos said on Wednesday.

That’s according to the Omaha World-Herald’s Sam McKewon. Moos also said capacity for the game could reach as high as 75 percent.

Nebraska’s spring game is scheduled for May 1.

While 50 percent stadium capacity for a spring game is normal for most big programs, it will limit Huskers fans. Nebraska routinely has the highest-attended spring game every season,

In 2019, the official attendance for Nebraska’s spring game was 85,946. A sold-out crowd would have been 90,000 fans.

If 45,000 (or more) fans are in attendance for Nebraska’s spring game, it might be the highest-attending sporting event in the country since the pandemic shutdown last March.

Moos also announced attendance capacities for several other sports at Nebraska:

The spring game will be Nebraska fans’ first chance to see the team in person since a 27-24 loss to Iowa on Nov. 29, 2019.

Spring practice is scheduled to begin on March 30.
