New Nebraska athletic director Trev Alberts has released a statement regarding the NCAA investigation into the school’s football program and head coach Scott Frost.

Per the report from Brett McMurphy at Action Network, the program is under investigation for improper use of analysts and consultants during practices and games. The schools has “significant video footage,” confirming that those violations occurred in the presence of Frost and other members of the football staff.

Nebraska also allegedly relocated its strength workouts to an undisclosed location to avoid the school knowing about it during the pandemic. That would be another NCAA violation based on the policies implemented during the last year, but it’s unclear if the Huskers are currently under investigation for that.

“The University of Nebraska Athletic Department has been working collaboratively with the NCAA to review a matter concerning our football program,” the statement read from Alberts. “We appreciate the dialogue we have had with the NCAA and cannot comment further on specifics of this matter.”

It’s unclear what penalties would be enacted if the allegations are found to be true. However, McMurphy cited a source saying that Frost could face a suspension and miss time during the 2021 season.

Alberts was named the athletic director at Nebraska in July, replacing Bill Moos who suddenly stepped down. He arrived in Lincoln after serving as the AD at the University of Nebraska-Omaha.
