Nebraska’s kicking game in 2021 left a lot to be desired. On Sunday, the Huskers added a commitment from an FCS kicker via transfer.

The player is Timmy Bleekrode, a kicker and punter out of FC program Furman. During 2021, Bleekrode finished 15-for-18 on field-goal attempts. That included a long of 51 yards while also hitting from 45, 46, and 47 yards out.

For his career, Bleekrode has gone 21-for-25 on field goals. He also has 91 punts in his career with a punting average of 42.9 yards.

According to Brian Christopherson with 247 Sports, Nebraska is believed to have extended a scholarship spot to Bleekrode.

Special teams was a mixed bag for Nebraska in 2021, to put it lightly. As a team, the Huskers went 8-for-16 on field goals and missed 4 extra points. It will be interesting to see if Bleekrode is able to come in and stabilize the unit a bit.
