Nebraska basketball is looking for an early win in conference play before the calendar flips to 2023. While there’s still a long way to go in Thursday’s game, the Huskers pulled off a brilliant one-sided run against visiting Iowa.

With 5:47 left in the first half, Sam Griesel made a 3-point jumper to make it 29-8, Nebraska. That bucket capped a remarkable 19-0 by the Huskers.

That 19-0 stretch covered nearly 10 minutes of game time with Iowa’s last made bucket coming at 15:20 in the first half. The Hawkeyes would not score again until Kris Murray drilled a 3-point field goal with 5:33 to go before halftime.

Iowa was able to turn things around and cut into that lead. After Nebraska opened up a 21-point margin, the Hawkeyes were able to battle back and cut the lead of the Huskers to 38-26.

Murray is Iowa’s leading scorer in his return to the court with 13 points. Griesel leads the Huskers with 10 points and 7 rebounds at the break.
