The Nebraska board of regents approved a number of things at their meeting on Friday. A new media rights deal is happening, as well as the approval of the sale of alcohol at Pinnacle Bank Arena per Chris Dunker of the Lincoln Journal Star.
The new media rights deal with Nebraska athletics and PlayFly Sports, will be for the next 15 years. The deal is worth $301 million.
Pinnacle Bank Arena has the approval of the board to sell alcohol for the next two years. However, there will be meeting by the Lincoln City Council for the agreement to be considered at sometime next week.
More and more B1G teams are starting to allow the sale of alcohol at sporting events. Indiana has allowed it at basketball games, while Penn State football has announced that Beaver Stadium will be selling it in the near future.
We’ll see if any more details come out about the media rights deal or when alcohol sales will start.
Regents also OK the $301 million multimedia rights deal with PlayFly Sports for the broadcast rights for Husker games for the next 15 years. Vote was unanimous, but 2 regents said they were a little skittish at length of contract. There’s a look in after 9 years.
