A Nebraska defensive back has decided to explore his options outside of Lincoln after just one season with the program.

The Omaha World-Herald reported on Friday that freshman Malik Williams has entered his name into the NCAA transfer portal. He was a member of the Huskers’ 2021 recruiting class and spent just one year with the football program.

Williams did not appear in a game during the 2021 season.

A native of Buford, Georgia, Williams was a 3-star prospect in the 2021 recruiting class. He received over a dozen offers during the recruiting cycle. The defensive back chose Nebraska over offers from Arizona, Arizona State, Colorado, Florida, Florida State, Georgia Tech, Maryland, Minnesota, Pitt, South Carolina and UCF.

Williams will have all 4 years of eligibility to use at his next stop.
