Nebraska DL Nash Hutmacher secures pin in collegiate wrestling debut
Nebraska defensive lineman Nash Hutmacher has made his way back to the wrestling mat!
A redshirt junior for Husker football, the defensive tackle was a key leader for Nebraska this season. He recorded 8 tackles for loss and 4.5 sacks but had not participated for Nebraska wrestling prior to Saturday.
According to the announcer, Hutmacher dropped 45 pounds in just over a month, 33 days to be exact. He then suited up against Wyoming’s Mason Ding in the heavyweight classification.
That match was all Hutmacher with a pin in the first period. That pin delivered 6 points for the Huskers in a huge 44-3 team victory for Nebraska wrestling.

Anyone who has followed Hutmacher’s career knows the star football player is no stranger to the wrestling mat. Prior to coming to Nebraska, he was a 4-time state wrestling champion for Chamberlain High School in South Dakota while also participating in track and field.
Hutmacher was a perfect 166-0 as a heavyweight wrestler in high school as the first-ever 4-time heavyweight champion in South Dakota history.
