It’s never too early to extend an offer to a high school player if he’s talented enough. More and more, in fact, college coaches are taking chances on younger players.

That’s the case with Nebraska and the son of former Auburn and NFL wide receiver Anthony Mix. On Wednesday night, high school freshman quarterback Anthony Mix Jr., tweeted out that he had received an offer from the Huskers.

It was Mix’s third offer.

Anthony Mix was a star receiver at Auburn, playing for the Tigers from 2002-2005. In four seasons, he caught 76 passes for 1,110 yards and seven touchdowns.

Mix had stops with the New York Giants, Washington Redskins and Tampa Bay Buccaneers.

Head coach Scott Frost has a pretty good eye for quarterbacks. After all, he did bring Adrian Martinez to Lincoln. So if Nebraska is making an offer this early, Anthony Mix Jr. must already be impressing, even as a high school freshman.
