A Nebraska fan with a deep love for the Cornhuskers and even deeper pockets just shelled out $21,000 to keep a school streak alive.

Nebraska had a tumultuous start to the season, going 1-2 with losses to Northwestern and Georgia Southern. Add the firing of former head coach Scott Frost, and the Cornhuskers have been on a roller coaster.

With such a whirlwind in Lincoln, Nebraska fan attendance had fallen, and there were a few hundred tickets still available. With three home games left, the Cornhusker attendance streak was in danger of coming to an end. But, as luck would have it, one fan came to the rescue, spending $21,000 to purchase the remaining tickets, ensuring that the streak would continue on, at least one more season.

Nebraska’s next home game is against Illinois on Oct. 29. The Illini are currently ranked in the AP Top 25, squeezing in at No. 24. We’ll see if a now sold-out crowd in Memorial Stadium can help the Cornhuskers come away with the win.
