Nebraska’s offense struggled mightily on Saturday in a 21-13 loss to Northwestern.

First it was incumbent starter Adrian Martinez. He was able to move the ball on the ground, but not with his arm. Northwestern’s secondary held him to 12-of-27 passing for 125 yards a bad interception that got him pulled from the game after halftime.

Luke McCaffrey was his replacement. He didn’t fare much better on the scoreboard, but he was more accurate. He finished 12-of-16 for 93 yards and a red zone interception.

Despite the lack of scoring from McCaffrey, Nebraska did march down the field twice in the four quarter with him under center.

Husker fans have spoken: they want McCaffrey to replace Martinez in Nebraska’s next game. The Huskers host Penn State next week.
