Nebraska fans storm field after beating Wisconsin to end 8-year bowl drought
Nebraska hasn’t played in a bowl game since 2016. That will change in 2024, as the Huskers picked up their sixth win of the season with a 44-25 victory over Wisconsin at Memorial Stadium.
The Huskers were once one of the top programs in college football, a consistent national championship contender under Tom Osborne. In the nearly three decades since his retirement, they’ve rarely come close to the success they enjoyed in the 1980s and 1990s.
Matt Rhule led the Huskers to a 5-3 start in 2023, but they lost their final four games to miss out on a bowl once again. And, after a 5-1 start in 2024, followed by a four-game losing streak, there were fears of the Huskers coming just short of the postseason once more.
Behind a massive offensive showing — the 44 points scored was their highest total of the season — Nebraska is going bowling. Fans at Memorial Stadium celebrated by storming the field, as you can see below:

Huskers fans understand that their program has a long way to go to reach the heights it once enjoyed, but Saturday was a major step in the right direction. Nebraska ends the regular season at Iowa in the latest edition of the Heroes Trophy rivalry series.
