Tyjon Lindsey is already earning the respect of some of his teammates. That’s a pretty high honor for a true freshman.

On Thursday, a teammate of Lindsey’s – and a fellow wide receiver – spoke highly of the true freshman, saying he’s “excited” to see what the newcomer can for the Huskers this fall.

:When I didn’t know the play, I’d just go out there and pretend I knew it,” said redshirt freshman receiver J.D. Spielman. “But Tyjon’s a little different. If he doesn’t know the play, he’ll look at one of us directly and say, ‘What do I have on this?’ Then we’ll tell him and we’ll talk about it after and then he’ll understand it.

“Each practice, you can tell that he’s been getting better and better at his plays. He’s understanding more, he’s making less mistakes. I’m excited to see what he’s going to do this year.”

Lindsey is a four-star receiver out of Las Vegas, Nevada, and was ranked as the seventh-best receiver in the 2017 class. He’s expected to have some role in the Huskers offense this season.

Spielman, who was redshirted last season, was a member of Nebraska’s 2016 recruiting class. He was a three-star athlete.
