Nebraska has made a pretty big addition to its basketball program this week.

Thursday morning, Nebraska was able to land a pledge from transfer guard Alonzo Verge Jr. out of Arizona State. Rivals.com was able to confirm Verge’s commitment.

Verge will bring one year of eligibility with him to Nebraska. During his two seasons with the Sun Devils, Verge played in 51 games and made 30 starts. He posted an average of 14.3 points, 3.7 rebounds and 2.9 assists per game while logging just over 28 minutes per contest.

Before transferring to Arizona State, Verge started his career at Moberly Area Community College. He was a two-time NJCAA All-American and averaged more than 30 points per game.

Verge’s commitment comes after taking a visit to Lincoln earlier this week. His pledge comes at a good time for Fred Hoiberg and the Huskers staff, as guard Dalano Banton decided to keep his name in the NBA Draft.
