Nebraska landed another piece of the 2023 recruiting class Monday.

This time, the commitment comes from Ismael Smith Flores, a tight end prospect out of Arlington, Texas. Smith Flores has ties to the B1G with his father — Leroy Smith — playing for Iowa from 1987-91.

The commitment comes after an official visit for Smith Flores to Lincoln. The Huskers nabbed his commitment ahead of offers from Iowa, Indiana, Rutgers, Colorado State and Vanderbilt, among others.

“Had a great time this weekend on my official visit to the University of Nebraska,” wrote Smith Flores. “Loved everyone there and I’m blessed to be able to call this place my home!”

Though unrated by the composite rankings, 247 Sports rates the 6-foot-5 and 210-pound Smith Flores as a 3-star recruit and the No. 36 TE prospect nationally for the class of 2023. He joins Matt Rhule’s first recruiting class at Nebraska, a group ranked 29th nationally for the cycle.
