Nebraska added a major piece to its 2024 recruiting class on Wednesday afternoon.

The Huskers picked up a commitment from 3-star defensive lineman Keona Wilhite. The talented pass rusher had numerous other Power-5 offers and picked Nebraska over fellow-finalist UCLA.

“It was always Nebraska because I see myself really growing there,” Wilhite said in an interview with 247Sports after the announcement. “Especially with the coaching staff, I’ll be able to focus a lot better while developing and making my way to the league.”

Wilhite is the No. 608 overall prospect and the No. 70 defensive lineman in the country for the class of 2024, per 247Sports Composite rankings. He’s also the No. 13 player from the state of Arizona to join the Huskers’ class.

In addition to UCLA, Wilhite garnered interest from programs such as Michigan State, Arizona, Washington, BYU and numerous other programs. He initially signed with the Huskies back in December, but was released from his letter of intent after Kalen DeBoer departed the program.

Wilhite is originally from Tucson, Arizona. He’s listed at 6-foot-5, 240 pounds.

Wilhite is the 31st high school prospect in the class of 2024 to commit to Nebraska. The Huskers are taking a huge class of high school recruits as Matt Rhule and his staff hope to rebuild the program.

The class is led by 5-star quarterback Dylan Raiola, who spurned Georgia in order to sign with the Huskers back in December. The group is ranked in the top 20 nationally, per 247Sports Composite rankings.
