A 6-foot-5, 325-pounder from Clarkston, Michigan, Spindler has been a guard throughout his career. He first played left guard as a true freshman before settling in at right guard. This season, he had a PFF grade of 70.5, the third-best on the Irish offensive line.
In Notre Dame’s 2024 campaign of 16 games to reach the College Football Playoff National Championship, Spindler logged 650 snaps. He was injured in the Orange Bowl win over Penn State, but returned for the title showdown with Ohio State.
Spindler earned his starting spot in 2023 fall camp. He played in 10 games that season. This past season, his first start came against Miami (Ohio), and he remained in the lineup.
Spindler finished the season without allowing a sack. He allowed 10 total quarterback pressures, down from 15 the previous season.
“I feel like my role this year was to be a leader. And when my role was called upon, I definitely acted upon that,” Spindler told 247Sports after announcing his transfer decision.
Spindler is entering his final season of college football eligibility.
