Nebraska added to its number with a former Miami commit in Vincent Shavers Jr. on Early Signing Day.

Shavers is a native of Miami (Fla.) Central and a 3-star linebacker in the 2024 class. The 247Sports Composite ranks him as the No. 50 prospect at the position. He decommitted from the Hurricanes on Dec. 15 and took an official visit to Lincoln on the same day.

The linebacker is 1 of 12 verbal commits yet to sign their letter of intent that Nebraska currently has in the 2024 class. Shavers is also the 2nd linebacker to pick the Huskers in the class, along with 3-star commit Braylen Prude. The B1G schools outside of Nebraska that showed interest in Shavers include Rutgers, Maryland and Illinois.

Shavers is a 2-way player, taking snaps at running back as well. He had 56 total tackles, 8 sacks, 2 pass break ups, 2 fumble recoveries, and 1 interception last season.
