Nebraska lands former LSU TE out of transfer portal
Nebraska has landed former LSU tight end Mac Markway with mere days to go before the start of the season.
The 6-foot-4, 258-pounder took to social media this week to announce he was officially a Cornhusker after originally entering the transfer portal out of LSU back in August.

Markway’s confirmed the post was a commitment announcement, speaking to On3.

Markway saw action in 12 games as a true freshman for the Tigers in 2023, making one start. He finished out with 3 receptions for 16 yards, including a 3-yard touchdown against Georgia State. With his departure from Baton Rouge, he leaves behind a loaded tight end room that currently has Thomas Fidone and Nate Boerkircher atop the depth chart.
The pass-catcher Markway was 4-star recruit coming out of high school who selected the Tigers over a number of over offers from prestigious programs after originally committing to Florida. At DeSmet, he was ranked the No. 9 tight end in the country by 247Sports.
It will be interesting to see what this fully means for Nebraska at the tight end position and what the status of Markway’s eligibility will be going into 2024 with UTEP coming up on the schedule as the season opener.
