Nebraska lands transfer lineman from Utah
Utah’s loss is Nebraska’s gain as Vaha Vainuku appears to be headed to Lincoln.
The former Ute lineman has no available statistics and is older than most college players. Vainuku was a member of Utah’s 2012 recruiting class but went on a two-year Mormon mission before arriving for the 2015 season. Following his time off, he redshirted with Utah.
According to his bio on Utah, Vainuku bench presses 460-pounds, which was the most on Utah’s team at one point. His cousin Sione Pouha played for Utah before moving on to play in the NFL for the Jets.
He announced his decision on Twitter:
Long story short, I need to learn how to husk corn now!🌽 lol Beyond grateful to be able to play this game again and to do it for this stud of a Coach! Lets go Husker Nation🔴⚫️⚪️ #GBR pic.twitter.com/o5oiG65yrM
