A Nebraska linebacker has decided to enter his name in the NCAA transfer portal and explore opportunities outside of Lincoln.

On Wednesday, Pernell Jefferson announced via Twitter that he will be entering the portal and putting an end to his time with the Huskers. He posted the message to Twitter, saying “sometimes in life you need to move on to new opportunities.”

“With that being said I’ve decided to enter the transfer portal and attend another university in order to continue my athletic and educational  career,” Jefferson wrote. “GBR forever.”

Jefferson has been a member of Nebraska’s program since the 2016 season, when he used that year as a redshirt. Though he’s added depth at the linebacker position, he has not appeared in a game for the Huskers, according to his profile on Huskers.com.

As a graduate transfer, Jefferson would be immediately eligible to play in the 2020 season, regardless of destination. He will have one year of eligibility remaining.
