This is when we’ll find out the most about Nebraska in the second year of the Scott Frost era. After a tough home loss against Ohio State last weekend, the Huskers get the chance to bounce back against a struggling Northwestern squad.

Last Saturday, we learned that Nebraska isn’t quite ready to compete at the same level as Ohio State — not many are, to be fair. But how will the Huskers handle a blowout loss on their home turf, their first of the season? That question should be answered this weekend against the Wildcats.

Wide receivers coach and offensive coordinator Troy Walters said the focus this week is on Northwestern and getting back into the right frame of mind as a team.

“This is get back on track week,” Walters told Sam McKewon of the Omaha World-Herald.

Northwestern brings a 1-3 record to Lincoln and is coming off a loss to Wisconsin in Madison. The Wildcats have struggled on both sides of the ball at times, though the offense has really been the major issue for Pat Fitzgerald’s bunch.

If Nebraska can get back on track, the remainder of the schedule is incredibly manageable. Yes, the Huskers still have Wisconsin and Iowa ahead on the schedule, the Huskers have a great opportunity to get to a bowl game and finish the year with a winning record.

It all starts this weekend. If Nebraska gets back on track, it’ll be a really good boost moving into the second half of the schedule.
