Mack Brown is building something special at North Carolina. Brown had plenty of success at Texas, and he’s most known for his time with the Longhorns, but in 2018, the Tar Heels went 2-9 overall.

This past season, in 2019, Brown led the team to a 7-6 record. Earlier this week, North Carolina let go of its special teams coordinator, leaving a void at that position. It didn’t take long for Mack to find the next person to fill that role.

On Monday morning, North Carolina made it official that it was taking Jovan Dewitt — who was the special teams coordinator and linebackers coach at Nebraska — to fill its void:

Dewitt has followed Huskers coach Scott Frost, as this was his second year at Nebraska. Prior to 2018, Dewitt was under Frost at UCF in 2016 and 2017. Prior to his time in Orlando, Dewitt was at Army in 2014 and 2015, leading his unit to blocking seven kicks in those two seasons.

Dewitt has been in some sort of coaching role since 2000 and was a student assistant in 1997.
