Nebraska makes Bob Diaco highest-paid assistant in school history
You can’t call Nebraska a bunch of cheapskates.
Yesterday, the Cornhuskers hired Bob Diaco to be the team’s new defensive coordinator. Diaco was most recently the head coach at Connecticut, spending three seasons there.
Details have emerged about exactly how much Diaco is making, and Nebraska can’t say they aren’t trying.
Diaco will make $825,000 his first year, $875,000 the second year.
He's the highest-paid assistant in Nebraska history. #huskers

By paying Bob Diaco $825,000 and $875,000, Nebraska is now on par with what Ohio State and Michigan pay their coordinators. #Huskers

No coordinator in the Big Ten made in the $900,000's in 2016.

The change to Diaco won’t only impact the school’s bank account – it’ll change how the team looks defensively.
The hire of Bob Diaco means Nebraska will leave the 4-3 defense for a 3-4 scheme. They've been running the 4-3 since 1993. #Huskers

Will the change lead to more victories for the Cornhuskers? Only time will tell, but next season won’t be a cakewalk.
In 2017, Nebraska will play Oregon and Penn State on the road while hosting top-end Big Ten teams such as Wisconsin, Iowa and Ohio State. Diaco’s first season may not be an easy one, but if he does succeed early, fans can have the chance to say the money was well spent.
