Nebraska OC Mark Whipple talked about his quarterbacks on Tuesday. He was especially impressed by how experienced Texas transfer Casey Thompson is per Michael Bruntz of 247Sports.
Thompson is the expected starter at QB for Nebraska heading into the 2022 season. Thompson played in all 12 games for the Longhorns last season. He had 2,113 yard passing with 24 touchdowns and just 9 interceptions. Thompson played in 19 games while at Texas as well.
Whipple really likes what he has seen from Thompson so far when it comes to learning the Nebraska offense. Here’s what he said:
“He knows more than the other guys because of experience, and he sees it,” Whipple said. “He’s had to learn the offense and the run-game stuff, and now we’re focusing more on what the defenses are doing, not necessarily Northwestern, but blitz pickups and protections…he’s done a really, really good job…he’s a worker, he studies the game, he’s around asking questions, texting me at night.”
