Nebraska has been waiting to use bluechip JUCO receiver Omar Manning, but it’s unclear if the Huskers will get that chance this weekend vs. Wisconsin.

Offensive coordinator Matt Lubick said Tuesday that Manning is still nursing an injury that kept him out of the season-opener vs. Ohio State. However, Lubick left the door open that Manning could contribute this week vs. Wisconsin.

Manning joined the Huskers by way of Kilgore Junior College and was the No. 2 overall JUCO prospect in the class of 2020, per 247Sports Composite rankings. He initially signed with TCU in the class of 2017.

In 10 games last season for Kilgore, Manning totaled 727 yards and six touchdowns. He figures to be an immediate contributor for the Huskers once he’s ready to play.

Last week vs. Ohio State, Nebraska’s leading receiver was Wan’Dale Robinson was just 49 yards. Robinson was the only Husker to catch more than two passes and amass more than 30 yards.

Nebraska will have an opportunity to do more in Week 2 vs. a Wisconsin team that could be down to its fourth string quarterback.

Kickoff for that game is at 3:30 p.m. ET on Saturday.
