Nebraska is bolstering its coaching staff. New head coach Matt Rhule announced the hiring of 3 assistants in Lincoln.

The new members are tight ends coach Bob Wager, linebackers coach Rob Dvoracek, and wide receivers coach Garret McGuire. Rhule has now hired seven assistant coaches since arriving at Nebraska on Nov. 26.

Wager comes to Nebraska after a successful run at the high school level in Texas where he won over 200 games. Along the way, he helped future No. 1 draft pick Myles Garrett.

Dvoracek moves back to the collegiate ranks after two seasons with the Carolina Panthers. He reunites with Rhule, who he also spent time with at Baylor University.

McGuire also spent time with the Carolina Panthers in 2021 and 2022. A former quarterback, he played three seasons under Rhule in Waco.

“I am proud to add three more outstanding football coaches to our Nebraska staff,” Rhule said in a press release. “Bob’s experience as a head coach will be invaluable for me, and Rob and Garret’s experience in the NFL will help our student-athletes as they chase their goals to play at the highest level. Each of the three coaches bring great energy to Nebraska and will fit our program very well. I am excited to have all our full-time assistants on board as we finish up the 2023 recruiting cycle and begin to work toward the start of spring practice.”

We’ll see how Rhule’s full staff performs during his first season in Lincoln.
