Week 3 in Norman, Oklahoma will be one for the history books between Nebraska and Oklahoma.

The long-time rivals from their time in the Big 8 and Big 12 Conferences have not played since 2010. That game was a hard-fought win for the Sooners in the Big 12 Championship with Nebraska leaving for the B1G in 2011.

The two programs have since taken quite different trajectories with Oklahoma making multiple trips to the College Football Playoff and Nebraska still looking for its first B1G title. But this week, the game carries with it some historical significance.

This year’s contest will be the 50th anniversary of the “Game of the Century” meeting between the two sides in 1971. That was a 35-31 win for the Huskers.
