Bo Pelini’s firing was a hot button issue that many took to social media to air their opinions on.

Unfortunately one of those people was Jon Schuetz, who had just been hired as the new Nebraska public address announcer. Scheutz’s post criticized Nebraska administration.

According to the Omaha World-Herald, these were his comments:

“Harvey Perlman is as (sic) disgrace. Remember this was the guy who extended Steve Pederson’s contract only to fire him a few months later. When will he be held to account?”

That was enough to warrant his dismissal just a day after his official hiring, the school announced. In a statement from the university, Schuetz said that he completely understood the decision and that he regretted the Facebook rant, which has since been deleted.

The statement read, “after reviewing the post, highly critical of university leadership and, after thorough internal discussion, we visited with Jon, who was extremely apologetic and agreed with our decision that he cannot represent the university in such a public capacity.”

Nebraska hired Lane Grindle to take over for Schuetz following his firing.

Schuetz was originally set to take over after longtime PA announcer Patrick Combs was accused of swindling $360,000 from elderly women.

Nebraska will kick off the 2015 season on Saturday when it hosts BYU.
