Nebraska president caught on hot mic, says announcement on B1G football coming Tuesday
An announcement on the B1G football season is coming tonight, according to University of Nebraska President Ted Carter. He was caught in a “hot mic” moment on Tuesday discussing the issue briefly.
KETV 7 in Omaha caught the sound on Tuesday morning.
“We’re getting ready to announce the Huskers and B1G football tonight,” Carter said while speaking with an individual near the mic. The two were having some small talk before a news conference.
It’s unclear whether or not this means the season will be reinstated or if the year will remain postponed. It’s also unknown what the start date would be for the return of B1G football, though Oct. 17 has been a target date, as reported by the Milwaukee Journal-Sentinel.
Carter’s comment comes on the same day that Minnesota Football’s Twitter account sent out a poll question on the social media platform, asking when the last time the Golden Gophers’ season started in October.
It sounds like we’ll know more before too long.
