Big Ten Media Days are going on Thursday and Friday in Chicago this week and BTN is televising the two-day event.

Nebraska is one of the teams being showcased on Thursday and after head coach Scott Frost got to speak with the media, Huskers QB Adrian Martinez was one of three players — along with LB Mohamed Barry and DL Khalil Davis — to speak with the media as well.

Martinez was asked about the buzz behind his name and being a legitimate Heisman Trophy contender. Martinez is not just a dark-horse candidate. The odds and talk behind Martinez and the Heisman Trophy show that he is a legitimate contender.

When asked about it, Martinez quickly said that being involved in the conversation for the award would be great. But after that, he got right to business:

“My primary focus — and it always will be — is us winning football games,” he said.

This is something Husker fans in particular like to hear. Sure, Martinez winning the Heisman Trophy as a sophomore would be remarkable.

But, even in order for him to have that opportunity, the Huskers need to win games. And, that is exactly what is on Martinez’s mind: Winning.
