Adrian Martinez doesn’t care that Ohio State is 7-1 or that its ranked as the eighth-best team in the country. The freshman knows that if Nebraska plays well in Columbus, it’ll have a great chance to knock off the Buckeyes.

the Huskers quarterback spoke with the media on Monday to talk about Saturday’s game against Ohio State, a program that also recruited Martinez. While he understands how talented the Buckeyes are, he’s extremely confident heading into the weekend.

“There’s no question in our minds that we can compete with Ohio State and beat Ohio State,” Martinez said.

Nebraska is on a two-game winning streak, knocking off Minnesota and Bethune-Cookman over the last two weeks. And with as explosive as the offense has been throughout the season, it’s not surprising Martinez has confidence that the Huskers can find the end zone.

Ohio State presents a much different challenge than Minnesota and Bethune-Cookman, especially against the Huskers defense. Nebraska hasn’t faced a quarterback as talented as Dwayne Haskins, and containing the Buckeyes’ playmakers is a daunting task.

Martinez is confident though, and that’s exactly the kind of mindset the Huskers need entering this game. Could we see another major upset in the B1G this weekend?

As Lee Corson might say, Saturday’s game could be “closer than the experts think.”
