Through the first three games of the season, Adrian Martinez has been through some ups and downs. Even though the year is young, it’s fair to say the same thing about Nebraska.

Martinez struggled quite a bit in Nebraska’s opener against Illinois in Week 0. But over the last two weeks, the Huskers quarterback has looked much better as a passer and a runner. Nebraska has pulled off two-straight wins because of it.

On Tuesday, Nebraska quarterback coach Mario Veduzco was asked about Martinez’s play thus far into the season. That prompted an interesting response.

“None of that matters,” Verduzco said. per Omaha.com. “What only matters is this game this Saturday. And after this game this Saturday, the only thing that matters is the game after that. Doesn’t matter what he’s doing well. It just matters what he’s going to do well this Saturday.”

Through three games, Martinez has thrown for 728 yards and  4 touchdowns without an interception. He’s also rushed for 256 yards and 3 touchdowns on 34 carries.

Nebraska’s toughest test to date comes up on Saturday, as the Huskers will play No. 3 Oklahoma. They’ll need one of Martinez’s best performances to escape with a win.
