Nebraska RBs coach discusses outlook for Gabe Ervin Jr. following surgery
Gabe Ervin Jr. saw some early action as a freshman this year, but he, unfortunately, saw his season come to an end due to injury.
Last week, Nebraska RB coach Ryan Held confirmed that Ervin’s season was done after having knee surgery. Ervin will be able to maintain a year of eligibility after appearing in just 4 games, but it is still a loss to the Huskers backfield.
Thursday evening, Held addressed what is next for Ervin following his season-ending surgery. According to Held, Ervin remains in good spirits and is “focused” on getting back on the field. The freshman will work on rehab and the plan is to get Ervin back in time for spring ball.
Held said RB Gabe Ervin Jr. is “fixed” after surgery.
“He’s always got a smile on his face and he’s very focused to get back and be ready for spring football.”

Ervin was a 3-star prospect out of Georgia for the 2021 recruiting class. He rushed for 124 yards and 2 TDs before his season came to an end. Hopefully, he is back strong and healthy for 2022 and beyond.
