Nebraska has its next defensive coordinator, according to a report.

The Huskers are set to hire Central Florida defensive coordinator Addison Williams for the role, per 247Sports’ Matt Zenitz. The report says that Williams has accepted the job.

Williams would replace Tony White, who left Nebraska for the Florida State DC job earlier this cycle. White was Nebraska’s defensive coordinator for the first 2 years of the Matt Rhule era.

Central Florida endured a disappointing season overall, but Williams’ defense had a solid year. UCF ranked tied for 5th in the Big 12 in yards per play allowed this season. Williams was also UCF’s associate head coach for the 2024 campaign.

His coaching experience also includes time in various roles at Coastal Carolina, Auburn and South Carolina. However, this will be his first experience on a Big Ten coaching staff. As a player, Williams was a cornerback at South Carolina during the Steve Spurrier era before suffering a career-ending injury.

Nebraska will be looking to make a big leap defensively next season. The Huskers ranked 10th in the Big Ten in yards per play allowed this season en route to a 6-6 regular-season record.

Nebraska has not yet announced this hire.
