Nebraska running back enters transfer portal after 1 year in Lincoln, per report

Nebraska running back Ajay Allen entered the transfer portal Sunday after just 1 season in Lincoln.
Allen, a former 4-star recruit in the Class of 2022, had a fairly strong freshman campaign, totaling 190 rushing yards with 2 touchdowns in his first 4 games. It likely would have been more had Allen not suffered a season-ending knee injury in Week 4.
Thanks to Allen’s 4-game season, he is eligible for a redshirt and will have 4 seasons of eligibility remaining at his next school.

Nebraska still has a strong group of running backs leading the way for Matt Rhule’s Nebraska debut. Rhule himself said earlier in April the running back room is as deep as he’s ever seen as a head coach, specifically pointing out Anthony Grant. He also said he thinks Nebraska has 5 backs that “can go win the game.”
