The plan to bring UCF head coach Scott Frost back home to Nebraska might be closer than expected, according to reports.
On Friday, Lars Anderson of Bleacher Report tweeted out that he’s hearing that Nebraska and Frost are “close” to inking a seven-year, $35 million deal.
Not a breaking-news guy, but hearing a lot of heavy breathing on Nebraska coaching front: Scott Frost to NU for 7 years, $35 mil is "close."

If that’s true, it would be an absolute home run hire by new athletic director Bill Moos. The $5 million annual salary would make Frost the third-highest paid B1G head coach, trailing only Urban Meyer at Ohio State and Michigan’s Jim Harbaugh.
Nebraska fans have been clamoring for Frost since early this season when the Huskers went off the rails early. The 4-6 record, which includes blowout losses to Wisconsin, Ohio State and Minnesota, has all but sealed the fate of current head coach Mike Riley.
After the Huskers lost to Northern Illinois early in the year, Shawn Eichorst was fired from his post as athletic director. Many believed Riley would be fired after Eichorst’s dismissal.
Frost currently has UCF ranked No. 15 this season as the Knights are a perfect 9-0 on the season, one of only four unbeaten teams remaining in college football. UCF also owns the highest-scoring offense, averaging 48.6 points per game.
Frost was also the quarterback for the Huskers during the 1997 national championship season. Fans have been clamoring to bring the Nebraska native back to Lincoln for several months.
