Nebraska is rolling on the recruiting trail right now, and the momentum from June has carried over to July.

On Saturday, the Huskers landed a verbal commitment from Miami (Fla.) Palmetto wideout Jacory Barney Jr. The 6-foot, 160-pound receiver is a 4-star in the industry-generated 247 Composite and picked the Huskers over Miami and Texas A&M.

Barney is ranked as the No. 35 athlete in the class and the No. 62 recruit from the state of Florida. Overall, he’s the No. 416 recruit in the 2024 class.

He was a utility player for Palmetto last fall as a junior, throwing 4 passing touchdowns, running for 2 scores on the ground, and catching another 4 receiving touchdowns. He had 960 yards of total offense, including 559 yards on 34 receptions. There’s also a background in track, with Barney anchoring a 4×400 team that took gold at the AAU Junior Olympics in August of 2018.

Nebraska moves to 23 known commitments in the 2024 class, a group that ranks inside the top 15 nationally.
