Nebraska suffers back-breaking loss to Minnesota after erasing 19-point deficit
Nebraska was safely on the right side of the NCAA Tournament bubble entering Saturday’s action vs. Minnesota. However, the Huskers will need to avoid another misstep to finish the year.
On Saturday, Nebraska came out and played a rough half of action. After entering halftime with a 9-point deficit, Nebraska fell behind by as many as 19 points in the 2nd half.
Remarkably, the Huskers would not go quietly. Nebraska fought all the way back for a lead late in the game, even going ahead 65-64 with a tip-in from Juwan Gary with 9 seconds remaining.
Minnesota was prepared though, delivering a quick push down the court to get a clean 3-point shot off from Brennan Rigsby. His performance of a lifetime was capped with the game-winner with 4 seconds left as the Gophers held on for the 67-65 win.

Rigsby led the Gophers with 20 points while shooting an astounding 7-for-8 from the field, including 5-for-6 from 3-point range. It was a true lights-out performance from Rigsby to spearhead the attack and deliver the clutch shot late.
For Nebraska, Brice Williams and Juwan Gary finished the game with 21 points apiece while Connor Essegian chipped in 11 points off the bench. For a moment, Gary nearly rescued the Huskers, but it proved to be too little too late.
Entering Saturday, Nebraska was the final team in the “Last Four Byes” section of Joe Lunardi’s latest bracketology update for ESPN. The loss is not going to knock Nebraska entirely off the bubble, but it adds additional pressure to season-ending games against Ohio State and Iowa before we reach the Big Ten Tournament.
